The Cockeyed Bunny

The first sugar baby watermelon from my garden 🍉 it’s SO delish!

The tomatoes, squash, zucchini, bell peppers, and banana peppers were delish also…to the family of rabbits living on the north side of the property.

At first, it was cute to walk up on them snatching a baby squash or two! “Aww, go ahead little bunny, take a squash.” But then they mistook my kindness for weakness.

They cleaned my garden out this season!!! Apparently the watermelon were too heavy for them to carry off.

Most of them shoo away easily enough but I seem to have a particular issue with the slightly plump cockeyed one. His audacity is notable.

He acknowledges my presence…stares me down…with his left eye focused on me, while the right one wanders around….slowly reaches over to the closest veggie…snatches it and runs to the edge of the ditch, just out of reach…then proceeds to munch on his chosen veggie while completely ignoring my commands to ‘DROP IT’!

Looks like we will be living off dehydrated watermelon all winter 😑😑

Meanwhile, I’m building enclosed raised garden beds for my cool weather crops. 🖕🏽🐰
