Yes, I have googled myself. In fact, it’s part of my routine to Google myself at least twice a year.
I do not have a super common name. I’ve never been successful finding anything about anyone other than the Me that is me.
There was one time in my early 20’s that the company I worked for closed down and gave us all unemployment slips to take to the UI office.
When I got there the lady told me that someone was currently working in a city a few hours away from me under my same name and SS#.
Back then I thought someone stole my info and was working illegally. I had to provide lots of proof of who I was…residency, etc. and my appeal was granted.
I never found out anything about that situation back then at the time.
My credit has never been compromised. My legal government identity has never officially been stolen. Or anything like that.
Someone in the comments of the FB group post suggested I request a copy of my earnings on file with the IRS. Which is a great idea. I’ve also found that I can request info from SSA.gov
I have passed the ID verify steps required to create the accounts on the websites and am currently waiting for their verification code to be mailed to me.
If that provides any info, I’ll update here. So be sure to subscribe for a notification.
